The USA announced on July 5 a $100,000 donation to the Tunisian chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). This grant will be used to support the activities of SIFE in Tunisia and to enable students from Tunisia to participate in the SIFE World Cup competition in Washington, DC, an opportunities for young Tunisians and entrepreneurs to showcase their ingenuity and innovative ideas for prominent peers and leaders at an international level.
The 2012 SIFE World Cup will provide a showcase of the impact that SIFE teams are achieving around the world and will bring together an international network of more than 3,000 student, academic, and business leaders from more than 39 countries.
Every country that operates a SIFE national organization is eligible to send a national champion team to the SIFE World Cup, where they will present the results of their community outreach projects to panels of business leaders serving as judges.
Competing teams will be placed into eight opening round leagues. From there, two teams from each opening league will advance to the semi-final round of competition where, through a drawing of time-slots, the teams will place themselves into four semi-final leagues. Emerging from the semi-final round of competition will be four teams who will draw for time-slots in the final round of competition and the chance to be named the SIFE World Cup Champion.
